Please clarify the initial population and let us know if we have to include All emergency department encounters for patients 18 years and older at the start of the encounter with a diagnosis of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) during the measurement period including pt that was admitted in our facility after receiving treatment or PCI or has inpatient orders.

    • We will be able to capture the correct numerator and denominators cases in our report.

In our eCQM report we are currently capturing all emergency department visits with STEMI including the patients who are admitted in our same facility after PCI treatment. We are a STEMI receiving center and we seldom transfer pt out. after PCI procedure. We only transfer pt's who are stable enough but doesn't require PCI.

MY question is are we including all patients seen in Emergency department including inpatient or patients who got admitted in our facility after their PCI treatment in Emergency department? because currently we do and I though this is an outpatient measure and only ED encounters that are not admitted should be in the initial population. please advice?
