Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS133v11 Cataracts: 20/40 or Better Visual Acuity within 90 Days Following Cataract Surgery. The denominator of this outcome measure is comprised of “All cataract surgeries for patients aged 18 years and older who did not meet any exclusion criteria.” Dominator exclusion criteria are limited to pre-existing ocular conditions impacting the visual outcome of the surgery. Physical/cognitive impairment is not currently an exclusion criterion for this measure. Please review the list of denominator exclusion criteria, included in the CQL logic of the specification, as well as corresponding value sets, to determine whether any of the criteria apply. Please reference the measure specification, located on the eCQI Resource Center https://ecqi.healthit.gov/. We hope this helps.

    • patient did not achieve 20/40 after cataract surgery due to multiple issues with patients mental ability as well as physical issues.  How do I remove this from the "not met" category and have it count against us?
