Thank you for your question about PC-02 CMS334v4. When ePC02 was developed, Table 11.09 which is used in the chart abstracted measure was broken down into smaller value sets and redundant coding was removed that is applied within the measure logic. As updates are applied to the chart abstracted version which typically updates occur twice a year, they will be applied to the eCQM during the annual update process which occurs only once per year. We will continue to add new value sets or codes to existing value sets based on the updates to the chart-based measure.

Regarding codes 0322XX0 (maternal care for transverse and oblique lie, not applicable or unspecified) or 0328XX0 (maternal care for other malpresentation of fetus, not applicable or unspecified), these codes are currently included in the abnormal presentation value set and would exclude the patient from the measure.

0322XX0 maternal care for transverse and oblique lie, not applicable or unspecified
      Is Applicable To:
      -Maternal care for oblique presentation
      -Maternal care for transverse presentation

0328XX0 maternal care for other malpresentation of fetus, not applicable or unspecified
      Is applicable to:
      -Maternal care for footling presentation
      -Maternal care for incomplete breech

You can reference the applicable codes containing these value sets on the Value Set Authority Center (VSAC) at https://vsac.nlm.nih.gov/. Please continue to work with your coding department to accurately code the type of malposition or malpresentation. Some malposition’s/malpresentations are deliberately not included as exclusions (i.e. occiput posterior, acynclitic fetal head).

    • PC-O2 rates incorrect. Reported hospital rates do not match state rate.

Perinatal Care PC-O2 Excludes Table Number 11.9: Multiple Gestations, Abnormal Presentations, and conditions Justifying Cesarean Delivery. At my hospital malpresentation and malposition are coded the same. Any documented malposition is excluded from our data because it is coded as 0322XX0 maternal care for transverse and oblique lie, not applicable or unspecified or 0328XX0 maternal care for other malpresentation of fetus, not applicable or unspecified. I'm just not understanding how it can be coded this way when it doesn't match the correct definition. Coders tell me their definitions are not the same as the OB world.
