      Thank you for your questions. If a mom delivers at home and is subsequently admitted to the hospital for aftercare, she would not be included in the IP for ePC01, ePC02 or ePC07. These 3 measures require that there be a delivery procedure on the current encounter. A home delivery would not be coded as a delivery by the hospital.

      The initial patient population for PC maternal and PC newborn eCQMs will approximate the number of moms that deliver in the hospital and babies born in the hospital. However, there will be some differences.

      For the PC maternal measures, please note the denominator criteria narrows the IP population by the following gestational age restrictions:

      ePC01: >= 37 and < 39 weeks gestation

      ePC02: >= 37 weeks gestation

      ePC07: >= 20 weeks gestation

      For the PC newborn measures, ePC05 and ePC06’s initial population is defined as:

      Inpatient hospitalizations for single newborns who were born in the hospital with a discharge date that ends during the measurement period and with either of the following conditions:
      - An estimated gestational age at birth of >= 37 weeks

      - Birth weight >= 3000 grams without an estimated gestational age at birth

      Therefore, newborns < 37 weeks (or < 3000 grams when EGA is not available) and non-single liveborns would not be included in the IP. This could account for some discrepancies between the ePC05/ePC06 IP count and your overall number of newborns delivered.

    • IPP ?

      Hello,

      If a mom delivers at home and then comes in after delivering for care to the hospital my understanding is that they would not be included in the IPP/Population for PC Mom measures PC-01, PC-02, PC-07 since they did not deliver at the hospital, is that correct? Or would they be included, but excluded? Please clarify.  Right now the report reads not in IPP Denominator Net Met, which makes sense I just want to confirm.

      I know this is not listed as an exclusion, but just want to clarify.

      In addition, for IPP for PC Mom and PC Baby eCQMs I would anticipate the IPP to generally match all moms that deliver in the hospital and babies born in the hospital, but then that number is narrowed down if they met numerator and/or denominator criteria; is my understanding correct?  I have seen most mom's on our PC Mom (PC-01, PC-02, and PC07) IPP report once we figured out date and time of EGA.  But I am still not seeing all babies in the IPP population, yet we are still working through matching registration and inpatient time for babies in workflow. Pleae let me know any other thoughs on this.

      Thank you,
      Rachel Kau
