Thank you for your question regarding STK-02 CMS104v12 Discharged on Antithrombotic Therapy. The AHRQ definition of Elopement is when a patient leaves a healthcare facility against medical advice, when doing so poses an imminent threat to the patient's health or safety. We are unable to provide specific guidance related to the mapping of codes. Patient elopement could be mapped to the value set "Left Against Medical Advice" (2.16.840.1.113883.3.117.1.7.1.308). We recommend you consult with your EHR vendor and clinical partners. If mapping is conducted, you should maintain documentation in case of a CMS audit. We will consider this update in a future eCQM Annual Update cycle based on available terminology.

    • Patients with discharge code of "Elopement" are not currently being excluded from the Stroke 2 - Antithrombotic at Discharge eCQM report.

Denominator exclusion for Stroke 2 – Antithrombotic at Discharge lists Left Against Medical Advice as qualifying criteria. Is Left Against Medical Advice equivalent to patient elopement?
