Thank you for your question about VTE-1 (CMS108v11) Venous Thromboembolism Prophylaxis. Patients with a Principal Procedure of a SCIP VTE Selected Surgery will be excluded from VTE-1. However, if a patient presents with a Hip/Knee replacement procedure, and this procedure is NOT the principal procedure, if an Oral Factor Xa Inhibitor was Administered within the appropriate timeframe; the administration of a Xa Inhibitor will meet the numerator criteria for this measure.

Patient was admitted for a SCIP procedure, and they received an Oral Factor Xa Inhibitor the day after their surgery. Are these patients supposed to be excluded from the measure because of the SCIP procedure or do we include them in the Numerator field?
