Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding CMS154v11, Appropriate Treatment for Upper Respiratory Infection (URI). It's important to emphasize that any instances involving comorbid or competing conditions necessitating antibiotics should be appropriately excluded from this measure as per measure specification. Please feel free to send a follow-up comment with more details on specific conditions leading to antibiotic usage that are not already captured in the measure specification so we can review and consider it for a future Annual Update cycle. Thank you!

    • Our organization is facing negatively impacted scores for CMS-154 Appropriate Treatment for Upper Respiratory Infection (URI).

There are several occurrences where CMS 154 looks at an antibiotic order not specifically linked to the URI diagnosis. The particular antibiotic that gets attributed to the measure is not for the URI, and our organization has had several failures due to the logic picking up any antibiotic given during that visit even if it is for a diagnosis completely different and separate from the URI diagnosis.
