BP rechecks on return visits being directed to provider - not efficient flow of resources for the health system.
Hello - for the controlling high blood pressure measure (165) our health system has been operating under the impression that nurse only visits do not count for quality care measures.
This means when a patient's BP is elevated over the UDS marker of > 140/90, they need to return for a follow-up visit in two weeks to monitor this BP. It is our understanding that the follow-up cannot be a nurse only encounter to be counted within our quality measure. This however does not make sense do to the strain of resources required for our patient population when a follow-up could simply be done with a nurse visit.
Is this correct? Does a return visit to monitor BP need to be with an actual provider to get credit? Or can a follow-up be completed with a nurse only encounter?
