The essential hypertension diagnosis code is any code from the value set "Essential Hypertension" (https://vsac.nlm.nih.gov/valueset/2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.104.12.1011/expansion/eCQM%20Update%202022-05-05) and the timeframe could either start before and continue into, or start during the first six months of the measurement period.

    • need to understand if the specificity changes the measure?

      For a patient with an initial diagnosis of hypertension, if the primary diagnosis gets updated for something more specific, such as Chronic Kidney Disease w/ hypertension, does the hypertension become secondary? How does that work for coding up to the highest specification diagnosis?
