    • Please consider adding specialty encounter codes to the CMS value set so specialty eligible clinicians who do the correct work can meet the measure.

We've engaged certain specialties (oncology, cardiology, etc) in depression screening as it makes clinical sense for patients with chronic or acute conditions, but also because many specialty eligible clinicians contribute to the measure. However, we're finding patient examples when a screener is administered and negative in a specialty setting and the measure remains unmet.  The examples are tied to specialty level of service (i.e. code 99024) not in the 2023 or 2024 CMS value sets for qualifying encounters to be mapped.  The impact is that specialty clinics are disengaging from depression screening workflows because they aren't receiving credit for the work they do.
