Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS2v11: Preventive Care and Screening: Screening for Depression and Follow-Up Plan. Per the measure specification, each standardized screening tool provides guidance on whether a particular score is considered positive or negative for depression. Please refer to the guidance provided by the standardized screening tool you are using to complete the depression screen to determine whether screening results are considered positive or negative. We are not able to provide guidance on how you should or should not map scores in your EHR, so we suggest consulting with your EHR vendor and clinical partners to determine an approach to mapping. We hope this helps.

    • Leading to confusion as to when provider interpretation and follow-up is necessary.

In reference to Depression Screening Standardized tool, result interpretation, scoring (ex- PHQ 0-4 = none)

Does the measure consider the score range of 0-4 as negative, thus satisfying the measure?

For instance- if a patients depression screening score is within the none or zero range of a standardized tool, does it require interpretation from a provider?
