Addressing duplicate value sets is a planned part of value set harmonization that will begin in the next year. We will work with value set authors and stewards to eliminate identical value sets that do not have differences in their purpose and intent. The timeline for completion of this work is unknown, but ONC/CMS are in the process of obtaining funding and authority to dedicate resources to harmonization.
