Thank you for your inquiry on CMS9,Exclusive Breast Milk Feeding (PC-05). For PC05 eCQM, the EGA is evaluated after the newborn is delivered (LOINC Code Gestational age – at birth) and evaluates the EGA anytime during the inpatient encounter (not the time EGA value is entered in the EHR system). All newborn information including EGA should be entered into the inpatient record during the inpatient encounter. We would recommend consulting with your EHR vendor or IT department to find a solution on how to capture or map the information correctly. Also please note, if EGA is missing, the logic will evaluate if the newborn has a birth weight of 3000 grams or more entered.

Please note, ePC05 is no longer under the CMS program. Any follow-up or future questions related to eCQMs supported by The Joint Commission, please submit a question on the Q&A site http://manual.jointcommission.org.

    • Unable to capture all GAs available due to bedrock filter. Impacts Assessment, Performed: Gestational Age at Birth (result >= 37 weeks) and Outcomes.

      Hello,

Assessment, Performed: Gestational Age at Birth (result >= 37 weeks). Bedrock filter not capturing GA documented prior to Initial Start date, which is patient's birth date/ time. This does not follow the nursing process of capturing GA prior to date/ time of birth. Can the Assessment, Performed: Gestational Age at Birth (result >= 37 weeks) be changed to include patient Encounter instead of IP start time in order to capture more GA's?
