Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS69v11: Preventive Care and Screening: Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening and Follow-Up Plan. We appreciate your feedback regarding adding Z32.01 to the "Pregnancy Obstetric or Maternal Diagnoses" value set (OID: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.600.1.1623) value set. The specifications for CMS69v11 are finalized and published, and no updates can be made to this measure version at this time. We will evaluate the appropriateness of adding the suggested code with our EWG during the next Annual Update cycle. In the meantime, you can map Z32.01 to one of the SNOMED CT codes listed in the value set, making sure it is clinically and technically appropriate to do so.

    • Patients who are pregnant are being erroneously included in the denominator of the Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening and Follow-Up Plan measure creating inaccurate percentages.

Currently in the Pregnancy Obstetric or Maternal Diagnoses Value Set (OID:  2.16.840.1.113883.3.600.1.1623) the ICD-10 Code Z32.01 is not included in the value set, but the SNOMED code 169560008 is included in the value set.

The definition of the ICD-10 Z32.01 is "an Encounter for pregnancy test, result positive". The definition of the SNOMED code 169560008 is "Pregnant - urine test confirms (finding).

Why is the SNOMED Code 169560008 is included in the value set, but ICD-10 Code Z32.01 is not included in the value set? It appears that both the SNOMED code and the ICD-10 have functionally the same definition and therefore should both be in the value set.

The Pregnancy Obstetric or Maternal Diagnoses Value Set (OID:  2.16.840.1.113883.3.600.1.1623) is used in the Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening and Follow-Up Plan. The codes in the value set have a direct result on which patients are excluded from the measure due to pregnancy.
