Patients who are pregnant are being erroneously included in the denominator of the Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening and Follow-Up Plan measure creating inaccurate percentages.
Currently in the Pregnancy Obstetric or Maternal Diagnoses Value Set (OID: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.600.1.1623) the ICD-10 Code Z32.01 is not included in the value set, but the SNOMED code 169560008 is included in the value set.
The definition of the ICD-10 Z32.01 is "an Encounter for pregnancy test, result positive". The definition of the SNOMED code 169560008 is "Pregnant - urine test confirms (finding)."
Why is the SNOMED Code 169560008 is included in the value set, but ICD-10 Code Z32.01 is not included in the value set? It appears that both the SNOMED code and the ICD-10 have functionally the same definition and therefore should both be in the value set.
The Pregnancy Obstetric or Maternal Diagnoses Value Set (OID: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.600.1.1623) is used in the Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening and Follow-Up Plan. The codes in the value set have a direct result on which patients are excluded from the measure due to pregnancy.
