CMS69v11-Normal BMI for 2023 does not appear to allow for patients BMI >24.9 kg/m2.

      Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS69v11: Preventive Care and Screening: Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening and Follow-Up Plan. Per the measure specifications, a normal BMI for patients ages 18 years and older is BMI >=18.5 and <25 kg/m2. The measure logic, as aligned with current clinical guidelines, defines the range for below normal BMI as < 18.5 kg/m2 and an above normal BMI as >=25 kg/m2. In the provided example, a patient with a BMI of 24.91234 should fall within normal BMI parameters as it is less than 25 kg/m2. The patient is not appropriate to be excluded from the measure.

      CMS69v11 was updated for 2023 so that the high-end interval for Normal BMI is <= 24.9 and High BMI is >= 25 kg/m2. We receive up to 5 decimal places in our BMI readings. For example, if a patient has a BMI of 24.91234 what is the desired outcome for this patient example?

      Based on the new measure guidance, is the desire of the measure to exclude patients with a BMI > 24.9, or is the recommendation to round our BMI readings so they are a single digit so that the patient is not erroneously excluded?
