Yes, encounters with patients in the ICU patients may be included in the measure, as encounters are not excluded from the measure based on the patient’s location in the hospital. The only denominator exclusion we have pertains to the CMS871 Hyperglycemia measure, where we exclude encounters for patients who are in severe hyperglycemic crisis on admission: Exclude inpatient hospitalizations for patients with an initial glucose result of >=1000 mg/dL anytime between 1 hour prior to the start of the encounter to 6 hours after the start of the encounter.
