Thank you for your question specific to CMS108v11 (VTE-1) and CMS190v11 (VTE-2). In the scenario provided, the patient would pass the initial population for both VTE-1 and VTE-2. However, the patient will be excluded from the denominator exclusion condition of "Encounter Less Than 2 Days" for VTE-1 because Length of Stay is 1 day, as the inpatient admission was on the 8th and the patient was discharged on the 9th. Since this patient has no ICU admission, this patient will not pass the denominator for the VTE-2 measure.

    • Length of stay and being included in the measure for VTE 1 & 2

If a patient comes in on the 7th as outpatient and on the 8th are admitted as an inpatient
the discharged on the 9th. Should they be included in the inpatient measure for VTE?
Is this considered a 1 day stay or a 2 day stay?
