Thank you for the inquiry on CMS111, Median Admit Decision Time to ED Departure Time for Admitted Patients (ED-2). Inpatient inclusion, regardless of the specified department/ward name, is determined by the "Encounter Inpatient" 2.16.840.1.113883.3.666.5.307 value set. If the code for the inpatient admission is in this value set then the other initial population criteria is assessed for inclusion.

An ED patient meets all other population criteria for ED-2 Stratum 2, but instead of being admitted from the ED to an acute care unit with the patient class of 'Inpatient' is admitted to an inpatient psychiatric acute care unit (in the same hospital) with the classification of 'Psychiatric'.

Should this patient be excluded from the ED-2 population (since 'Psychiatric' classification is different from 'Inpatient' classification)? - Thanks!
