Thank you for reaching out with your question regarding CMS145v11, Coronary Artery Disease (CAD): Beta-Blocker Therapy-Prior Myocardial Infarction (MI) or Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction (LVEF less than 40%).

In order to meet the denominator criteria, a patient must have a CAD diagnosis or LVEF and two qualifying outpatient encounters during the measurement period. Inpatient encounters do not qualify the patient for the measure as the intent is to measure quality of care in the outpatient setting. For your reference, the outpatient value sets that define qualifying encounters for this measure are listed below:

      Office Visit: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.101.12.1001
      Outpatient Consultation: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.101.12.1008
      Nursing Facility Visit: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.101.12.1012
Care Services in a Long-Term Residential Facility: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.101.12.1014
      Home Healthcare Services: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.101.12.1016

I am seeking additional clarification if inpatient encounters would be a qualifying encounter if the patient is or has been diagnosed with CAD or has prior LVEF <40% and is prescribed beta blocker therapy?
