Thank you for your inquiry for CMS165v11 (2023 performance period). In CMS165v11, the measure guidance related to "do not include BP readings taken on the same day as a diagnostic test or diagnostic or therapeutic procedure" was removed from the measure header and not specified the logic, so you are not required to exclude BP readings according to this guidance.

    • We need to know whether to include a subset of blood pressures for PY 2023 that was previously specifically advised to not include.

The following guidance was removed from the eCQI resource center[ Controlling High Blood Pressure | eCQI Resource Center (healthit.gov)|https://ecqi.healthit.gov/ecqm/ec/2021/cms165v9?sort_order=2022vs2023] for CMS165v11 for performance year 2023:

      "Do not include BP readings:

-Taken on the same day as a diagnostic test or diagnostic or therapeutic procedure that requires a change in diet or change in medication on or one day before the day of the test or procedure, with the exception of fasting blood tests."

My question is, for PY 2023, should the numerator include blood pressures that are taken on the day of an outpatient test or procedure that requires diet and/or medication changes that may impact the patient's blood pressure reading? (Example: Colonoscopy, Endoscopy, Same Day Surgical Procedure, ect that may require sedation and/or pain medications)

      Thank you.
