Thank you for your inquiry about the logic for CMS138v11 Preventive Care and Screening: Tobacco Use: Screening and Cessation Intervention. The NormalizeInterval function allows for either the point in time or period to be applied in the logic. The measure logic uses "relevantPeriod" to pull in the start and end time, and “relevantDatetime” to reference the point in time the medication is active or the intervention is performed for both Tobacco Use Cessation Pharmacotherapy and Tobacco Use Cessation Counseling. If the point in time, or the start and end time of the active medication or intervention is present and in the appropriate time period, it can be counted towards the Numerator requirement. We hope this helps.

        end of "Measurement Period"]

      2) Tobacco Cessation Counseling Given :
( ["Intervention, Performed": "Tobacco Use Cessation Counseling"] TobaccoCessationCounseling
where Global."NormalizeInterval" ( TobaccoCessationCounseling.relevantDatetime, TobaccoCessationCounseling.relevantPeriod ) during day of Interval[start of "Measurement Period" - 6 months,  end of "Measurement Period"])

      Query :

As per the above statements we would be validating start date and end date for Medication,Active and Intervention, Performed.

      Is this understanding correct ?
