Thank you for your question. You are correct. The eSTK measures all have the same Initial Population; encounters for patients who are 18 or older, with a principal diagnosis of ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, and duration less than or equal to 120 days. Next, Denominator is the same for eSTK-2, eSTK-5 and eSTK-6; it only includes patients with principal diagnosis of ischemic stroke. The Denominator for STK-3 is different; it only includes patients with principal diagnosis of ischemic stroke and also with a history of atrial ablation, or current or history of atrial fibrillation/flutter.

Measure sets share the same Initial Population. Then, each measure refines the Initial Population to produce a Denominator that fits measure intent. Please follow the measure technical specifications as written. This means that you should include cases with principle diagnosis of hemorrhagic stroke in the Initial Population.

    • We have multiple failed cases with a principle diagnosis of hemorrhagic stroke

In the STK-2 Technical description, the initial population looks at a principal diagnosis of ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. However, the denominator includes only principal diagnosis of Ischemic stroke.

First, Is there a reason why we need to include hemorrhagic in the initial population if they are going to be excluded.

Second, are we correct in excluding cases with principle diagnosis of hemorrhagic stroke.

      Thank you,
