Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS157v10: Oncology: Medical and Radiation - Pain Intensity Quantified. CMS157v10 has two populations. Population 1 is intended for patients who are currently receiving chemotherapy. The office visit codes included in Population 1 of the measure are for patient encounters with their medical oncologist. Population 2 is intended for patients who are currently receiving radiation therapy. Population 2 includes radiation treatment management codes that capture patient encounters with their radiation oncologist.

While other providers might have the encounter codes included in the denominator criteria, the measure is intended to be reported by the clinicians performing the procedure codes in the measure (e.g., medical or radiation oncologist).

Are office visits in which pain scale is not part of the workflow (some specialties) included or only oncology visits? Does office visit codes include primary care visit?
