Brief Description of Measure:
CMS157: Oncology: Medical and Radiation - Pain Intensity Quantified:
Percentage of patient visits, regardless of patient age, with a diagnosis of cancer currently receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy in which pain intensity is quantified
Description of Issue:
The most recent ICD-10-CM coding updates include the following 3 new cancer codes:
C56.3, C79.63, C84.7A
These codes represent cancer diagnoses that would be appropriate to include in the denominator of this measure.
Proposed Solution:
The measure steward proposes to update the extensional 'Cancer' value set OID: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.526.2.1078 and add the following 3 new ICD-10-CM cancer codes: C56.3, C79.63, C84.7A
Rationale for Change:
The proposed update will ensure that the new ICD-10-CM cancer codes are included in the measure.
