Thank you for your comment. The eMeasure is currently being updated to include the use of Paralytics, Inotropics and Vasopressors in the denominator exclusions. These changes were made during the 2013 April 1st release.

From the April 1 Release Notes:
      • Newly added logic in denominator exclusions (new measure requirements)
 AND: "Medication, Administered: IV Positive Inotropic and Vasopressor Agents" <= 2 day(s) starts after end of ("Occurrence A of Procedure, Performed: SCIP Major Surgical Procedure" during "Occurrence A of Encounter, Performed: Encounter Inpatient")

The measure does not include Denominator Exclusion for medications that are commonly used in the ICU milieu, that are available as “Reason for Not” in the SCIP –Inf-9 measure. These medications include

Core Measure Reason for Not removing the urinary catheter on post op day 1 or post op day 2 for patients in ICU and received medications:
      • Paralytics
      • Inotropics
      • Vasopressors
      .
This is another conflict in the measures that will weaken the validity of a side-by-side comparison between the Clinical Quality Measure and Core Measure.
