The measure incorporates one Denominator Exclusion that was removed from the SCIP –Inf-9 measure in 2012.

Patients who had other procedures requiring general or spinal anesthesia that occurred within 3 days (4 days for CABG or Other Cardiac Surgery) prior to or after the procedure of interest (during separate surgical episodes) during this hospital stay.

This is another inconsistency in the measures that will diminish the validity of a side-by-side comparison between the Clinical Quality Measure and Core Measure. However, we understand that a measure update is imminent.
