      Thank you for the question. For ‘Patient 1’, if this patient was transferred to an inpatient facility within 1 hour of the ED encounter, he would meet the denominator exclusion criteria for being transferred to inpatient and yes, stratification 2. If the patient expired while in the ED, he would meet the denominator exclusion criteria. Expiring while in inpatient would not meet any of the criteria for this measure. For ‘Patient 2’, yes, if patient 2 expired while in ED, he would meet the denominator exclusion criteria and stratification 3. This is assuming that neither patient had a principal diagnosis consistent with a mental disorder.

      Hi Team,

      We need clarification with the logic of Denominator exclusion condition for CMS32v8:

      The measure document states-

      *Measure Population Exclusions *
      /ED visits where patient expired or the patient was admitted inpatient within an hour of the ED visit/
      ( "Emergency Department ED Visit" EDVisit
      where EDVisit.dischargeDisposition ~ "Patient deceased during stay (discharge status = dead) (finding)"
      )
      union ( "Emergency Department ED Visit" EDVisit
      with ["Encounter, Performed": "Encounter Inpatient"] Encounter
      such that EDVisit.relevantPeriod ends 1 hour or less before or on start of Encounter.relevantPeriod
      )

      *Stratification 2 *
      /Patients who are discharged to an acute care facility as detailed in the value set/
      "Emergency Department ED Visit" EDVisit
      where EDVisit.dischargeDisposition in "Discharge To Acute Care Facility"

      Issue:
      Patient 1-
      Had Emergency department visit on 2nd Feb, 2018 14:00:00 and expired on 2nd Feb, 2018 18:00:00 and the patient was discharged to acute care facility.

      Now in this case Patient 1 gets two discharge disposition codes i.e., one of patient expired (371828006) and other one of acute care facility (2.16.840.1.113883.3.117.1.7.1.87) will Patient 1 get Denominator exclusion status for Stratification 2?

      Patient 2-
      Had Emergency department visit on 2nd Feb, 2018 14:00:00 and expired on 2nd Feb, 2018 18:00:00

      Now in this case Patient 2 gets discharge disposition code of patient expired (371828006) and doesn't have acute care facility code (2.16.840.1.113883.3.117.1.7.1.87), will Patient 2 get Denominator exclusion status for Stratification 2?
