Ticagrelor is not included as a denominator exception, but should be. We intend to add logic to account for a denominator exclusion of a patient who receives Ticagrelor medication as a reason for not receiving anthrombotic therapy in order to better align with the chart abstracted measure.

We are proposing to add a Denominator Exception of Ticagrelor Medication Given as a reason for a patient not receiving antithrombotic therapy. This will entail the following:
1. Creating a new value set for Ticagrelor. It is an antiplatelet drug but the existing antiplatelet therapy value sets house other medications that do not align with the clinical intent.
Proposed Logic below:
Denominator Exceptions
"No Antithrombotic Ordered During Hospitalization"
Union “Ticagrelor Medication Given”
Ticagrelor Medication Given[
TJC."Ischemic Stroke Encounter" IschemicStrokeEncounter
with ["Medication, Administered": " Ticagrelor Therapy"] Ticagrelor
such that Ticagrelor.relevantPeriod starts 1 day or less on or after day of start of Global."Hospitalization"(IschemicStrokeEncounter)

Ticagrelor Needs to be added to STK and STK-5 as a denominator exception. Discussed on 3/26/2018 Stroke TAP Meeting. The reason would be to better align with chart-abstracted measure.
