Thank you for your inquiry. Positive screening results should lead to a follow up plan which the specification defines as including one of the following: * Additional evaluation for depression * Suicide Risk Assessment * Referral to a practitioner who is qualified to diagnose and treat depression * Pharmacological interventions * Other interventions or follow-up for the diagnosis or treatment of depression.

For CMS2v7 2018 reporting, additional evaluation for depression may include further screening using a different standardized tool, therefore your scenario is appropriate to qualify as a follow-up. However, please be aware that for CMS2v8 2019 reporting the Additional evaluation for depression – adolescent (2.16.840.1.113883.3.600.1542)
And Additional evaluation for depression – adult (2.16.840.1.113883.3.600.1545) value sets have been updated so that additional screening using a standardized depression screening tool no longer meets the numerator requirements.

      For CMS2v7, referring to CQM-2194

It is mentioned in that JIRA, If initial screening was Positive and done using PHQ-2, then the Follow-up can be on same day using different tool(in that scenario PHQ-9), is valid. Is this still valid for 2018 Performance period? Please provide any references available.
