Refer to Steward: As currently written, the exclusion would cover: A patient who satisfies ALL of the following: 1) No respiratory infection prior to admission 2) patient who has an active diagnosis of 'any infection' that doesn't wrap up in the 24 hours after admission.
This issue was reviewed by the steward for the annual update and the steward changed the definitions in the measure to align with intent.

The diagnosis exclusion for respiratory infection prior to admission, as currently written, will exclude any patient who had a respiratory infection at any time in the past. That does not seem to make clinical sense. This applies to all exclusions that are based on diagnosis active. See my separately submitted issues regarding active diagnosis.
