    • How to interpret the LOINC codes for Depression Screening: SNOMED CT result code alone sufficient or corresponding value associated with LOINC code also required.
    • For this measure (CMS2) the LOINC code is used only to identify a standardized depression screening tool and not the result of the screening. The result is sufficiently represented by a SNOMED CT code.

Numerator compliance for depression screening requires both a LOINC code representing the screening (Adolescent or Adult) AND a SNOMED CT result (Positive or Negative). Since LOINC codes are intended to have accompanying values, is that also true in this case? Does the LOINC code need to have a value (1=Positive, 2=Negative) that matches the SNOMED CT code, or is the SNOMED CT code alone sufficient to represent the result of the depression screening?
