Ideally, we would recommend removing both lines of logic that refer to the fractures ending >= 1 hour after the procedure: AND: "Occurrence A of Diagnosis, Active: Fracture - Lower Body" >= 1 hour(s) ends after start of "Occurrence A of Procedure, Performed: Primary THA Procedure" This would better align with the intent of the narrative exclusion. However, this should be treated as a non-fatal error with an update to the specification for Spring 2013. This is a duplicate issue (CQM-298)

The stated purpose of the denominator exclusion is to exclude patients with multiple fractures from trauma. But the requirement that the associated diagnoses of fracture must begin less than one day before surgery and must end after surgery is unnecessarily restrictive. These diagnoses may be associated with the precipitating event but may not end at a specified time. The end date criterion should be removed.
