Thank you for your question. Yes, a 'discussion about hospice' with the patient does meet the clinical intent of the comfort measures data element.

Chart abstraction and eCQM alignment concerns
Does the Comfort Measure Only (CMO) allow an observation to be coded in which the MD has had a 'discussion about hospice' with the patient on day one or two? Chart abstraction for VTE-6 currently allows this as an exclusion. We recently acquired certification as a Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center and the stroke registry supports 'hospice discussions' also as an exclusion. However, we are unsure if the STK CMO exclusions for eCQMs are aligned. Thank you for your time.
