CMS has determined that the measures in question, in particular measures with follow up, are not appropriate for the hospital setting/encounters. The addition of the suggested CPT codes could inappropriately place patients and attributing doctors into the measures.

CMS would welcome additional input on this issue through the upcoming rule making public comment cycle.

      • Measure 326: Atrial Fibrillation and Atrial Flutter: Chronic Anticoagulation Therapy
      • Measure 204: Ischemic Vascular Disease (IVD): Use of Aspirin or Another Antiplatelet

For some reason, the MIPS quality measures seem to ignore hospital-based physicians that are seeing inpatients. There are very few available inpatient CPT codes for our physicians in a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH). This would impact the almost 400 other LTACHs in the country.
