Thank you for your question. We agree that a FIT test can satisfy the colorectal cancer screening measure. The USPSTF has listed the FIT test as part of its recommendations since 2008.

The eCQM specification is based on the HEDIS health plan measure. The HEDIS measure lists two types of FOBT tests: gFOBT and iFOBT. iFOBT is simply another name for FIT. We will actually be updating that phrasing from "iFOBT" to "FIT" in the next iteration of the HEDIS specs.

The eCQM value set should already contain codes indicating a FIT test.

We received the following question through JIRA:

Can a fecal immunochemistry test (FIT) satisfy the colorectal cancer screening measure? The ACS recommends this test with the same guidance as fOBT

We will be making the following changes to the measure:

      Header: Numerator

Patients with one or more screenings for colorectal cancer. Appropriate screenings are defined by any one of the following criteria:
      - Fecal occult blood test (FOBT) during the measurement period
      - Flexible sigmoidoscopy during the measurement period or the four years prior to the measurement period
      - Colonoscopy during the measurement period or the nine years prior to the measurement period
      - FIT-DNA during the measurement period or the two years prior to the measurement period
      - CT Colonography during the measurement period or the four years prior to the measurement period

      Logic: Numerator

      •Numerator =
      ◦AND: Union of:
◾"Procedure, Performed: Colonoscopy" <= 9 year(s) ends before end of "Measurement Period"
◾"Laboratory Test, Performed: Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) (result)" during "Measurement Period"
◾"Procedure, Performed: Flexible Sigmoidoscopy" <= 4 year(s) ends before end of "Measurement Period"
◾OR: “Laboratory Test, Result: FIT-DNA” <= 2 year(s) ends before end of “Measurement Period”
◾OR: “Procedure, Performed: CT Colonography” <= 4 year(s) ends before end of “Measurement Period”

      Value Sets:

We will create code-lists for "FIT-DNA" as well as "CT Colongraphy"

Based on the CRP voting results, we will make the following edits to the measure:
