As long as the height, weight, age, & gender data are time-stamped (i.e., you have access to past values and are tracking changes in your system over time), then your assumption is reasonable. Our requirement is that you should be able to dynamically calculate the BMI value, and having the four data points may be a viable alternative to having the BMI percentile data saved in the database.

    • Unable to report accurately for CMS 155 numerator 1

One of our clients we produce the eCQM reports for wants to use CMS 155 as a measure. However, their EHR does not save the BMI percentile value in the database. This is needed for numerator 1 of that measure.
The EHR calculates the BMI percentile on-the-fly whenever the growth charts for a patient are requested. They do have screen shots of the BMI percentile values, but it is not saved in the database.
Can we assume a BMI percentile was available if the patient's height, weight, age and gender are saved or must the BMI percentile be saved in the database to meet the measure criteria?
      Thank you
