The intent of the measure is to screen for high blood pressure and follow-up with the appropriate interventions. The specific laboratory test follow-up referred to is applied when hypertension has been confirmed as the second hypertensive reading. For patients with a second hypertensive reading, the following are appropriate follow-up plans or hypertension recommendations: first Lifestyle Recommendation, Weight Reduction, Dietary Recommendations, Physical Activity or Moderation of ETOH Consumption, And secondly, Anti-Hypertensive Pharmacologic Therapy or

Laboratory Tests for Hypertension or Diagnostic Study: ECG 12 are ordered.

Specifically, related to laboratory tests for hypertension, the value set 2.16.840.1.113883.3.600.1482 contains various LOINC laboratory tests that can be ordered to meet the measure.
We will consider adding the LOINC value you use in your system and can consider expanding this value set to include additional values, however at this time, the LOINC values contained in this value set are the coding options that meet the laboratory test follow-up portion of the measure at this time.

When your internal codes have identical meaning to the codes in the value set, they can also be mapped to the codes in the measure, but it is expected that these codes could be proven, were the system to be audited, to in fact be an accurate representation of the measure codes.

    • Trying to finish our EP Build for MU 90 day and PQRS 2016 submission

We are working on the build for eCQM CMS22v4. The QDM Category, Laboratory Test, has a limited amount qualifying LOINC Codes. Our lab orders map to different LOINC codes for similar lab tests. As an example for Basic Metabolic testing the eCQM is looking for LOINC code 24321-2 Basic metabolic 2000 panel. Our lab order for BMP maps to 24320-4 Basic metabolic 1998 panel. In the eCQM may we map our BMP order (24320-4 Basic metabolic 1998 panel) to the qualifying lab test 24321-2 Basic metabolic 2000 panel?

Are the LOINC codes in the eCQM spec exclusive?

We need guidance, the intent for the measure is for the provider to order a BMP. However, this spec is looking us into an order we do not have built or available to our providers. Please advise?
