Our measure is designed to use direct HBA1c values and not values calculated from other blood components. Annual updates to value sets are included as part of the Technical Release Notes posted on the CMS website (https://www.cms.gov/regulations-and-guidance/legislation/ehrincentiveprograms/ecqm_library.html), as well as on the eCQI Resource Center (https://ecqi.healthit.gov/ep/2014-measures-2015-update/diabetes-hemoglobin-a1c-poor-control).

LOINC 17855-8 was removed from the A1c (2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.198.12.1013) value set in the 2014-05-30 update. Why did this happen? As far as I can tell this is still a valid LOINC code for A1c.

Are the value set changes documented anywhere? I can see the differences in the VSAC by changing the expansion version, but that doesn't necessarily explain why the changes were made.
