No, the most recent BMI should not be ignored . The encounter value set defines qualifying visits for the initial patient population and denominator. The numerator includes the most recent documented BMI during the encounter or during the previous six months prior to the qualifying encounter. Therefore, the BMI value may be documented in the medical record of the provider at this qualifying encounter or obtained by the provider from outside medical records that did not occur at the qualifying encounter.

      Hello,

The measure specifications for CMS 69 dictate that if more than one BM is reported during the measurement period, the most recent BMI will be used to determine if the performance has been met. However, the measure also lists a specific BMI Encounter Code set. In the case where the most recent BMI was taken in an encounter not included in the BMI Encounter Code Set (CPT code 99495 for example), should this BMI be ignored in favor for the most recent BMI taken in an encounter that is included in the set of codes?

      Thank you!
