Not including all diabetics in denominator
SNOMED codes 73211009 and 443694000 are not included in the diabetes value set 2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.103.12.1001. Was this an oversight or was it intentional?
Clearly this is a valid SNOMED code for identifying diabetes: http://www.snomedbrowser.com/Codes/Details/73211009. But I notice that it's somewhat vague and there are a number of SNOMED codes that define diabetes with much more granularity. Perhaps that's why it was not included in the value set?
We are finding a large number of patients with this diagnosis code, so it's definitely having an impact on the clinical accuracy of the measure results.
