    • athena needs clarification whether or not this change will actually hold July 2014 recertification/CYPRESS testing. If this change does take affect and athena fails CYPRESS testing, we will no longer support this measure for CEHRT DSV reporting.

As part of the July 2014 eCQM update to the Ischemic Vascular Disease (IVD): Complete Lipid Panel and LDL Control measure, the Laboratory Test, Result: Complete Lipid Panel (result) has been removed from Numerator 1 satisfaction. The majority of athena clients satisfy this measure through ordering a Complete Lipid Panel. Removing this lab from satisfaction has a significant performance impact on our providers.

This measure has also been removed from several 2015 quality programs: HEDIS, ACO, BTE, and CPCI. Historically, our providers have ordered a Complete Lipid Panel which includes the four components (Total Cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C, and Triglycerides) to satisfy this measure. They are not accustomed to ordering each lab individually, which is now required with the July 2014 update. From a clinical perspective, our providers have advised that when ordering a complete lipid panel it is assumed to include the four aforementioned components.

athena will be recertifying on the July 2014 eCQM specifications, continuing our certification as a CEHRT DSV for PQRS. Many of our providers treat IVD, and therefore this measure is a major component of reporting the nine measures across three domains. All providers reporting this measure are dependent on the Complete Lipid Panel for measure satisfaction. If removed, we expect the majority of our providers to no longer be able to satisfy this measure.
