There are many colonoscopy codes in the Colonoscopy value set. Using any of the codes in that value set should indicate the patient has had a colonoscopy and meets numerator criteria. If you are mapping patient data, we would suggest mapping it to the most appropriate code that describes the service.

Can someone explain to me why CPT code 44388 qualifies a patient to pull to the Clinical Quality Measure report for NQF 0034 colorectal cancer screening? That colonoscopy is a through a stoma. I would think that a CPT related to a screening colonoscopy would be the CPT code that would be used. Our staff is putting colonoscopies into patient procedures (history), but obviously don't want to use this colonoscopy since it is not a screening colonoscopy. If they don't use this code, that pt doesn't pull to our CQM reports or to CDS alerts.
