The December 2012 version of the eCQM specifications (CMS108v1) and subsequent versions of the specifications do not allow for early ambulation as a mechanical prophylaxis option for VTE. Allowable mechanical prophylaxis options include intermittent pneumatic compression devices, venous foot pumps or graduated compression stockings. We encourage you to refer to the latest eCQM specifications (2014 CQM Eligible Hospitals, April 2014 Update) for this and other measures, as they have been updated to include new codes, logic corrections and clarifications. You can find the technical eCQM specifications for all versions of the eCQMs in [CMS's eCQM library | http://cms.gov/Regulations-and-Guidance/Legislation/EHRIncentivePrograms/eCQM_Library.html].

    • Does having “early ambulation” documented on day of arrival as part of "mechanical prophylaxis" counts for VTE mechanical prophylaxis for July 2014 discharges? And what version technical emeasure manual can I find this specifications on?
