The Denominator and Numerator of CMS169v3 (NQF 0110) each contain two blocks of criteria for the same set of eight procedures, encounters, and medications. One of the eight uses an "Occurrence A" qualifier:
- OR: "Occurrence A of Medication, Order: BH Antidepressant Medication"
The other seven don't use "Occurrence A". The presence of "Occurrence A" on the Medication Order thus looks out of place, inconsistent with the rest, and, more importantly, appears to provide no value, especially given the discussion in CQM-1155 in which the use of "Occurrence A" in OR blocks can enable scenarios which do not meet the intent of the measure.
Please consider removing "Occurrence A" from the four instances in this measure in the next annual update.
