In validing data from my client's denominstration period, I am finding that patients are being dropped from the SCIP NQF 527 and 528 denominators because providers have selected SNOMED codes for knee replacements that are not in the Hospital measures-Knee arthroplasty Grouping Value Set (2.16.840.1.113883.3.666.5.1816). Codes using ICD10PCS that seem to mean the same thing are there, but the clients are not using that vocabulary standard yet. These same visits can be captured for VTE exclusions because the relevant SNOMED codes can be found in the Knee Replacement Surgery Grouping Value Set (2.16.840.1.113883.3.117.1.7.1.261). An example is SNOMED code 443681002--Total replacement of left knee joint (procedure), which is in the the Knee Replacement Surgery Grouping Value Set (2.16.840.1.113883.3.117.1.7.1.261) but is in neither the 2013 or 2014 version of the Arthroplasty value set. Is there are reason not to use more exhaustive lists for both the replacement and arthroplasty value sets?
