Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The current logic will lead to inclusion of patients in the denominator that were meant to be excluded as the measure only evaluates gestational age of 37-38 weeks. The logic will modified during the next Eligible Hospital Annual Update.

    • A potential error in the April 2014 EH eCQM spec update could lead to patients you don't want in the denominator being in the denominator.

The April 2014 EH eCQM update removed the denominator exclusions for patients with a gestational age < 37w or > 38w and instead put a gestational age check in the denominator statement. The denominator now checks to see if your GA is >= 37 weeks, but it never checks the upper boundary to ensure it's <= 38w.

Was this change to remove the upper boundary purposeful? Should the measure now include patients with a GA of 39w or 40w?
