We are using the 90 days prior to the start of the measurement period until 60 days after the start of the measurement period as an Intake Period. So patients in the measure must have a prescription during that time. We are also using the first prescription in that Intake Period as the Index Date for a patient newly prescribed ADHD medication.

We are excluding patients who have an active prescription for an ADHD medication prior to their Index Date in the Intake Period. This is to exclude people that do not have a new prescription for an ADHD medication, but rather are continuing to use an ADHD medication that was started earlier. We are also excluding people who had a hospital stay after their Index Date because that might interfere with the person having a follow-up visit.

Numerator 1 looks for one visit within 30 days after the Index Date to verify that the patient had a follow-up visit within 30 days of receiving an new ADHD prescription. Numerator 2 looks for two additional visits within 31 - 300 days after the Index Date to verify that the patient continued to receive follow-up care.
