The Electronic Medical Documentation Interoperability (EMDI) Initiative reduces provider burden by engaging healthcare providers and stakeholders in pilots that establish secure communication between providers to share medical documentation by using interoperable health IT standards and protocols. The EMDI Pilot Guidance (PG) document was created to provide EMDI participants with additional information and guidance on the EMDI Pilot Program.

Guide Overview:

The EMDI Pilot Guidance document provides additional information that EMDI participants should review throughout pilot process. This guide will review the onboarding process, pilot program, and detailed descriptions of pilot tasks. The EMDI team suggests that pilot participants use the EMDI PG as a workbook to track their progress throughout the pilot program. The guide covers the:

EMDI Participation Request Sheet

The EMDI Participation Request Sheet allows various healthcare organizations the opportunity to participate in the Electronic Medical Documentation Interoperability (EMDI) program. This is not a legally binding agreement and is to be used to outline the program guidelines and expectations for participation. All organizations participating in EMDI initiatives are expected to complete and submit this document to the EMDI team for review and approval.

Pilot Update TemplateThe Pilot Update Template will be used to provide pilot updates to CMS and the EMDI Team. EMDI participants may submit the Pilot Update template to the EMDI team at any time for review.
