      For CY 2017 data submission, hospitals with QRDA I files that are larger than 5 MB are advised to contact the QualityNet Help Desk for additional assistance.
      CMS is aware that an increase in QRDA I file size has been requested by hospitals and vendors; this is being considered for a future CMS data receiving system update. Updates will be communicated by CMS as they are made available.

      My clients in generating files that contain CMS108 will occasionally find a file that is > 5 MB that gets rejected. These are patients who had a large number of visits and long lengths of stay. The most common issue is the documentation of mechanical devices for VTE prophylaxis which may be documented 10 or more times a day. Please advise on how to handle these patients as presumably the size of files will grow as additional measures are added to the required number to submit.
