QDM December 2013 split anatomical structure into two distinct attributes:

      • anatomical location site: The anatomical site or structure that is the focus of the action represented by the datatype.
      • anatomical approach site: The anatomical site or structure through which the action represented by the datatype reaches, or should reach, its target.

These attributes are represented in several QDM datatypes. The concept of anatomical approach site, however, is likely not applicable to the Physical Exam datatype. Furthermore, since Physical Exam is mapped to HQMF's ObservationCriteria, there is not a clear mapping for anatomical approach site (ObservationCriteria does not have a similar attribute).

The QDM User Group should consider this attribute for removal from QDM.

Accepted Solution: Remove anatomical approach site from Physical Exam datatypes.
